Big Boy's Happenings

Well, I took a nice, long 2 month break from blogging but 1400 pictures and many stories later I am going to try to get back to it!

So here is the wrap-up of what Big Boy has been doing the past couple months!

We celebrated Mother's Day at school with his class. They sang us songs, made us a lovely brunch, and made us a slideshow. It was wonderful and Big Boy was a very charming date.

He also had Field Day at school, which he LOVED! It was a lot of fun and a chance for the kids to show off the basic coordination skills they have been learning in PE this year.

We also got some yummy snow cones!! :)

He had a sleepover at Aunt Ashlee's house with Sissy...

And we signed him up for t-ball! (much more to come on that later)

He's been really enjoying summer! He's a little fish so we've been hitting the pool a lot, hanging with friends, and he got to go to Vacation Bible School!

Easter Rundown

April and May are just INSANE for us. There's no other way to describe them, I literally just do not have the time to be sitting here but I'm trying to keep up! End of school, ballet recitals, birthdays, holidays, housework, school activities, garage sale... I am struggling to keep up! I just took another p/t from home job, which equals 4 now but who's counting, and I am going from sun up to sun down! (more on that later- and actually, if you count a golf tournament I just said I would collect sponsors for, that makes 5) Things are good, though, and we're looking forward to summer!

But here it is, the Easter post, summarized into a lots of pictures with no words, but you get the idea. We had a fun holiday with lots of fun activities.

You be the judge

Cast off- did not go well. We went in thinking, like the doctor said, that the only potential problem was if the two bones he broke grew back together. Pat assured me we didn't have to worry about that because of the way Big Boy could rotate his arm, even in the cast. And we was right, the bones did not grow together.

So we were very optimistic. Big Boy was a great patient and got to keep his cast, which was awesome!

And then the cast came off. And it looked...bad. Exactly the way it looked when I took him in a month ago. The nurse had a bad look on her face, he had to get a ton of x-rays, and I felt sick. This is what his arm looks like:

In this picture you can really see how the bone sticks out still.

But isn't he still so cute and happy?

This is his "normal, other arm:

And this is his broken arm. See the difference, the big curve? His bones essentially healed curved and so much bone grew around the break that he has a mass that sticks out.

Despite all this, he is happy and healthy and will be going to a pediatric orthopaedist next week to discuss the next step. The kids have Easter parties at school today, and I just had to take some pics of them ready to go.

Pat has a feeling they will tell us he can have surgery where they re-break it and cast it again or that we can leave it and hope that it doesn't make too much of a difference. We'll see. I have to say, it looks horrifying in person. And to touch it feels like the bone is still sticking out. :( This is the worst part of parenting, when something is wrong with your child! So what do you think? Is he "healed"?
