Yee haw

Yes, here they are folks! A cowboy and cowgirl aka Woody and Jessie. The kids are ecstatic for Halloween and as usual are wondering if it is ever going to get here. We love all the fun events there are around the holidays but while we do things weekend after weekend the kids start to ask "is it really Halloween today?" This week we'll be carving our pumpkins in anticipation and then it will finally be here! We are mapping out our route and can't wait to trick-or-treat.

(A special thank you to my grandma for making their costumes- we picked out fabric and she made their special vests and chaps. It isn't easy making costume for Big Boy, it was almost impossible to get him to hold still to fit him!)

We had a great time at our annual Halloween party with our playgroup. As always, we enjoyed some awesome food, games, and activities!

We also hit a few more activities around Wichita last weekend with some friends.

Sis got a bracelet painted on and T got his face painted for the first time ever. He picked out a rocket ship and did a great job holding still. However, when we got home that night he was very upset to see his rocket ship had worn off- and I mean devastated! The combo of no nap and a child who thought he was getting a permanent tattoo was not good.

Busy weeks

Wow, the last couple weeks have been nothing short of crazy. We have had numerous school events and Pat has been out of town so life is hectic. Every night I lay out my list of things to do the next day, to bring the next day, to wear the next day. I've been getting up at 5:30 to be able to make an attempt to be prepared for what the days would bring!

School picture day- love, love, love. The kids did AMAZING. I had high hopes for these pictures- really high. It's been over a year since I've gotten pictures taken of them and I was hoping to use their school ones and opt out of the traditional pics this year. And I think I got my wish! I even had their pics taken together so we are good! Here is a peek, a couple I took before we left

I also had two trips to the pumpkin patch to enjoy with the kids. They both were in school when the other went so I got to take them alone. Well, T anyway. Sissy actually had 2 friends whose parents couldn't go ride with us- heaven for them. They had a blast!
(side note for those who live close- Applejack PP, first time I've been in a couple years. Still not impressed. The kids were bored after less than two hours and even on a weekday it just felt crowded, my heart still belongs to Walters)

T's class headed to Walter's pp and it was the usual wonderful time as well. Hardly anyone was there so the kids got to spread out and do whatever they wanted for hours. I think Big Boy went down the slide 50 times. Magnificent!

This was how we returned from Walter's- naked. :) It was a little muddy.

The AMAZING RACE! (the kids' school fundraiser)

Grandma's class came to watch both days that my kids ran. It was slightly embarrassing (for mom and I) because her kids were chanting- LOUD- "Go T go!" or "Go L go!" with as much gusto as they possibly could. My two were lucky to have their own cheering section made up of someone other than those quiet adults!

And last but not least, Sis and I took a tutu making class a couple weeks ago. She and some friends got to play rock star and they had a great time.

Now we are coming to our Halloween events! Costumes are ready, kids are pumped up! And I need to go to the Y every day to make up for the amount of candy I am about to consume!

PUMPKIN PATCH! (round one)

Okay, how does one go the the pumpkin patch and not take 400 pictures? Could they possibly cram any more photo opportunities into one farm?

We went last Sunday and had the best day! I was actually feeling bad for people not at the patch that day- high 68 degrees. It was ideal. We have always gone a little later in October and I was shocked at how not crowded (there has got to be a better way to say that) it was. It was awesome. Long sleeves, short sleeves- it didn't matter. The weather was beautiful, sunny, no wind, and perfectly comfortable!

Riding out to get pumpkins- first year ever it was just us on the wagon with hundreds of awesome pumpkins to choose from!

We kept pointing out options to Big Boy and he kept saying "not big enough, not big enough..."
We finally talked him into a medium-sized one and thoroughly convinced him it was the biggest pumpkin EVER.

Poor big boy. Like me, he has trouble opening his eyes looking into the sun. He squinted the whole time we were there, the sun was so bright and beautiful!

Did I mention how much fun it was?

And I will get the pleasure of going with each child and their class again this week! Big Boy will get to come back to Walter's on Tuesday and Sis and I will head to Applejacks on Thursday. All this and trying to acquire outfits for school pics next week, too. ;) As Sissy sings, "Halloween is almost here and I can hardly wait..."
