Good times and not so good times

I have very little time to write today. Sissy has her Spring Program tonight and I have lots to do! But I thought I would share what's been going on in the last couple weeks-

Freaky hail storm- the kids thought it was awesome!

Headed to Emporia to visit Uncle Caca for his birthday, went to Carlos O'Kellys where he is a manager for dinner:

I had taken L to Kohls that day with the promise that she could pick out any gift for Micah that she wanted. At first she was leaning towards basketball shorts, then a KU shirt (he would have killed me), and then she saw the graphic tees. She decided on a Scooby Doo shirt, then changed to a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle shirt, and finally insisted on this shirt that states: "Protect your nuts". Extremely inappropriate, I know, but she would not be swayed b/c "Micah loves squirrels and coconuts".

Fun night out with the girls on Saturday night, yay!!

And then this- the most miserable looking 4 year old ever. This first pic is of her just trying to smile! I RAN her to the doctor who thought it was allergies combined with some bacteria from the pollen in her eyes. She got antibiotics and allergy meds which helped until we went outside at a friends house a couple days later and then it came back. And unfortunately now she has to stay inside until all this yucky stuff in the air clears!

I can't write much about this b/c the state of my yard depresses me too much! The hole is filled now but left behind is a four foot pile of dirt across the whole yard and a ripped up patio. My husband has a lot of work ahead of him...

EASTER

EASTER! We started the morning out early. Big Boy woke up around 7, earlier than usual, and ran into our room with his new Buzz Lightyear in his hand yelling. It took him about 20 more minutes to care enough about the other stuff to go get it and then he brought that into our bed as well.

Sissy slept in for quite a bit longer and then wandered into our room. She was completely baffled by Big Boy's new stuff. We asked her if the Easter Bunny left anything in her room for her and she said no. She had walked right by it! (I'm not sure how, either, since the Easter Bunny was generous and brought her a brand new bike this year as well as an overflowing basket.)

After admiring our baskets we got ready for church. Their actual planned Easter outfits were much less fabulous but Aunt Ashlee surprised Sissy this week with a brand new twirly dress and new purse. And T just happened to have some matching cute attire, so we were in business. I was trying desperately for pictures as we were rushing out the door.

After church we drove to Gpa and Gma McLain's house for lunch and an egg hunt.

Later that afternoon we drove over to my grandparent's house for another egg hunt with more family. We had all changed by that point and the weather was beautiful. We sat outside for a couple hours and the kids had a great time playing.

We are finalizing the replacement of our sewer line this week- fun. In the next week or two we will have huge trenching machines tearing through our yard and digging a 12 feet deep hole into our grass as well as jackhammers and a cement truck for our patio. Pictures of this miserable experience to come!

Waking up singing

Wow, we have had great weather this week. The kids and I have woken up in great moods everyday ready to go! I got a little break last weekend by going with some friends up to KC to shop and it was so nice to get a day away. We hit Cheeseburger in Paradise at the outlets, shopped for new workout clothes and shoes for the kids, and then headed to Oak Park. It was awesome to hit the Disney store for Easter baskets. We even made a long stop at Target, which seems ridiculous, but how often do you get to go to Target without children?? Ended the day with dinner and cheesecake at Cheesecake Factory, where we go every time and love. I have had dreams all week of the banana cheesecake with caramel!

So with it finally feeling like spring we have played outside everyday and been to the park over 10 times. We've also been getting ready for Easter with some mini-celebrations!

First we had Sissy's class party. Yes, you see where Big Boy gets the eye crossing thing? I made little chick and bunny finger jellos for the party and the kids loved them!

Big Boy- acting like part of the class as usual. I can't wait until he has his very own class next year!

We also did our annual egg dyeing. The kids had a blast and I have been benefiting from some egg protein for breakfast every morning!

We went over to an egg hunt with our friends this week at Mandy's as well. Mandy read Easter stories while the mommies hid eggs.

And today we headed to the zoo for their Easter celebration. We had gorgeous weather. It was a little cool since it was early so the kids wore jackets. Yes, I'm aware they look like walking Gap ads. I always regret buying them the same jackets when they are next to each other like this! ;)

Gotta love a spring day when all the animals are out and walking around! The lions were even climbing on rocks and roaring!

The annual haircuts for the sheep- grosses me out every year!

I do believe this is the first picture I have EVER with the Easter bunny and the kids! Last year they were terrified- this year they were ready to roll!
