A 5 to remember Part One

Shamelessly posting multiple pics of my sweet five year old in her "cupcake shirt", which she loves. Thank you Dulu Designs!

This year, with the Disney trip and all, we talked Sissy into doing a family only party that would still consist of lots of people and lots of presents. SHe picked out a Rapunzel/Tangled theme and we were on!

Okay, I think I need to explain my photography here. This would be an awesome picture had I not cut Gma McLain's head off, I know. However, in my defense, I was distracted yelling at Big Boy who was about to do...

Sis' cousins came to the party as well. Big Boy loooves playing with his baby cousin H.

Then mommy took the cake back into the kitchen to get it ready...

A 5 to remember Part Two

Mommy was thinking ahead and picturing the below situation in my head- Big Boy wanting to blow the candles out. I saw this coming and thought I would be tricky and buy...trick candles! Oh, how funny it would be. I thought.

So we sang, and she blew, and those suckers kept relighting.

And relighting...

Now, there is no picture to put here- everyone was flipping out. But it is on videotape. Sissy was blowing and blowing on those candles. She blew so hard that- she passed out. I am not kidding you. Eyes rolled back in head and just fell over. I grabbed her and immediately started asking her what was wrong- and she was limp. I picked her up and carried her into the family room for some fresh air and she came to and said, "What mommy? What about my cake?"

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Heart attack!

So here she is 5 minutes later, perfectly fine, airways restored. That will be the last time we have trick candles in our household!

She was going strong then and able to eat cake and ice cream and open presents.

Everyone was very generous to her, as usual, and she got a jewelry kit, tickets to Disney On Ice, new ballerina Barbies, a game, clothes, lots of toys, a heart-shaped princess pillow, a new nightstand, a new lamp, and more! With the addition of the nightstand we finally took off her bedrail so now she is officially big.
Photobucket
She had such a great birthday and played well into the night with her new mini Lalaloopsies and doll furniture.

The videotape, which I hear is funny although it still scares the crap out of me, will be sent into America's Funniest Home Videos- per my husband.

FIVE

Today is Sissy's 5th birthday!

Sissy's Favorite...

color- turquoise
food- pizza
song- one of Taylor Swift's songs, the one that goes "you'll be the prince and I'll be the princess"
singer- Taylor Swift
toy- my pink hippo
friend- Ella
holiday- Halloween
game- Hungry, hungry hippos
thing about school- to go play in housekeeping
season- summer 'cause I like it to be not cold. I just don't like it when it's cold.
thing to play in her room- Barbies
movie- Barbie movies
movie character- Jessie. I love Rapunzel but I love Jessie, too. I'm having a Rupunzel birthday so I'll just say Jessie because I don't have very much cowgirl stuff.

What are you excited about this year?
"Hmm. Going to a big kid school. Going to movies. Go to Disney World and see Mickey and Minnie and princesses. I'm going to Colorado to see mountains. And I am going to see Taylor Swift for real and she's going to play her guitar."

She has changed so much over the last year and has had so many great experiences. And she is going to have such a big year coming up! The biggest thing is obviously kindergarten where she'll be starting again at a new school. She also will be going to Toy Story 3: Disney on Ice, a Taylor Swift concert, and Disney World all in the span of a few months. What a lucky little lady!

Sissy is the best daughter ever. I could go on and on about how wonderful she is. She is just so EASY! She loves to eat vegetables and names brocolli as a favorite food. She loves chocolate. She does not nap but has a 2 hour rest time in her room for me every day. She sleeps like an angel, all night long, and has for years. She loves to swim. She loves ferris wheels. And as she gets older she is more and more willing to try anything. She helps with her brother and loves him to death. She is constantly telling Daddy, me, and Big Boy how much she loves us. We are so lucky to have her!

Spring before the storm

Calgon, take me away, back to last week when we had 3 glorious days of weather. When we were able to use some new Christmas presents and play outside for the first time in months. 3 wonderful days with weather topping out in the 60s, glorious. Uncle Micah came one day and helped the kids use their new Christmas gifts.

Sissy is the cautious driver. Will not push the gas pedal down all the way. Likes to have something (in this case Beary) driving with her for comfort. She even wears the SEATBELT!
Photobucket
Big Boy, not surprisingly, drives like he is training for a Nascar race. His tractor does not go fast enough! He cranks the steering wheel like crazy trying to be a maniac. He makes race car noises and pretends to rev his engine. He pretends that it is a rocketship. He will not stop and I end up chasing him down the street screaming at him to come back. He would drive to Dillons and pick up milk if I let him.

Saturday was the KU/KSU game. Despite being a KSU graduate, I love me some KU basketball so I donned my blue KU shirt. I dressed my kids in their KSU garb to even it out.

Photobucket
It was an even better day to be outside on Saturday. The kids were more confident in their new driving abilities and had a great time.

The after picture: (as she is about to be the victim of Daddy throwing snowballs with the leftover snow from the side of the house) Actually, it is not so much an "after" picture as a "preparing-to-be-hit-by-a-snowball" pic. The after actually wasn't very exciting. Daddy missed.

Best field trip ever

Sissy's class took a field trip to Great Harvest Bread Co. this week and they had a blast! It was so interesting and the staff was so great with the kids. The building is small so the mommas all hung out in the front and feasted on free samples of bread straight out of the oven. Best field trip ever.

After the tour they passed out bread to the kids that they had just seen pulled out of the oven.

And they introduced me to my new obsession: White Chocolate Cranberry Cinnamon Swirl bread. Now, I am not a bread eater. Not tempted by it (usually), don't eat rolls or anything like that very often. However, when they cut this fresh for us every single mommy there said "put me down for a loaf of that!" Two days later I returned again for more!

Big Boy's class had a circus theme last week and the teachers made them into clowns one day.
